This workshop explores the art and science of winning contested possession in AFL. We’ll break down what “contest” truly means, how it differs from stoppages and the situations where contested ball is most often won or lost. Using data, trends and examples from elite-level teams, we’ll examine the philosophies and strategies coaches have used to gain an edge across different areas of the ground.
Coaches will leave with a clearer understanding of how to shape their contest philosophy, structure training to reflect key moments and convert contested possession wins into scoring opportunities.
